About Me
I am an Australian writer and journalist living in London. I have been here since 2004, experiencing life on both the north and south sides of the river. I do miss home but I’m also enjoying London immensely. It’s one of the biggest media markets in the world so, as a journalist, it’s a great place to be. It’s also a fantastic place to play, with free world-class galleries and museums and excellent theatre. I love the markets and parks and sheer variety of life in London. I also love our location; the fact that you can go to Venice for the weekend, or catch the train to Paris in under two and a half hours.
I have been bitten by the travel bug pretty hard; I’ve now been to every continent except Antarctica. Using London as a base, I have been exploring Europe, sometimes with my boyfriend, and sometimes on my own or with a mate. Whether it’s skating in Paris, skiing in Austria, sea-kayaking in Spitsbergen, or seeking the best gelato in Rome, I have had some brilliant photographs and even better memories. I have also been able to fund some of this, and stretch my literary skills, with some travel writing.
As well as writing for a living, I also write fiction for pleasure but am as yet unpublished. I also a keen photographer, working with both film and digital. When I’m at home, I love cooking and eating good food, entertaining and catching up with friends. I enjoy film and theatre and art.
I am a keen reader, with overflowing bookshelves and an addiction to BookCrossing.com. I currently have a project to read the top 100 books of the twentieth century - you can view my progress at the Century of Books blog (which will eventually be integrated into this site).
I love inline skating (rollerblading), and often join in London’s three weekly street skates on
Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
